Degenerative Disc Disease Natural Remedies

Degenerative Disc Disease is a type of arthritis that occurs in the spine. Fortunately, natural remedies for degenerative disc disease can be very effective at reducing pain and improving function. Natural remedies for degenerative disc disease include herbs for pain relief, dietary changes to reverse the disease, and exercise to better support the spine.

What causes Degenerative Disc Disease?

Certainly age takes its toll on the body, including those important discs in the spine. As the discs lose mass, elasticity, and fluidity, the cushion they provide between the bones is less.  This can also mean that nerves are less cushioned, causing nerve related disorders like sciatica and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Injuries can cause damage to the discs as well. Repetitive motion that affects the discs can also result in deterioration of the disc(s) due to the repeated stress.

If you are overweight the discs in the spine and, in fact, all of your joints will have to work harder to support the body, causing degeneration over time from the extra stress on the joints.

A sedentary lifestyle can hasten degenerative disc disease. Loss of muscle strength and stamina puts more stress on the discs.

Inadequate nutrition will have a negative effect on the health of your discs. Lacking the proper nutrients to support and repair the discs will mean the supporting and repairing is left undone!

Some medications have side effects that can cause degeneration in the body, including the skeletal system, which includes the discs.

What are the Symptoms of Degenerative Disc Disease?

While it is possible to have degenerative disc disease and not have pain, pain of some sort is the most common symptom of this disease. Pain is common in the back and neck, where the discs are degrading. If nerves are affected by the degeneration, nerve diseases can result, causing additional pain.

It is common for pain to be worse when the spine is in the same position for a long time, as when you are sitting in the car for a long drive, or if you happen to sleep in the same position all night long. Extra strain on the spine from bending or lifting can also bring more pain. Nerve pain in the arms, legs, feet and hands can accompany degenerative disc disease. It can become difficult to find any position at all the brings more than temporary relief.

Typical treatments for degenerative disc disease include prescription or over the counter pain medication, physical therapy and sometimes surgery.

Natural treatments for degenerative disc disease include herbal pain relievers, dietary changes, supplements and exercise.

If you are suffering from degenerative disc disease your first priority will be to relieve pain. Next you will want to make lifestyle changes to prevent further damage to your discs and even reverse some of the damage.

Natural Pain Relief for Degenerative Disc Disease

Turmeric

Turmeric is an excellent natural anti-inflammatory. 2-4 capsules are taken with a glass of water 1-3 times a day. The water is important to avoid the risk of constipation.

Lemon Juice with Baking Soda

1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice with ¼ teaspoon of baking soda provides vitamins and nutrients to your body and also helps to alkalize the body. When your body is acidic, you pain is often more intense.

Mullein Root

Mullein root tincture can be taken internally (1 dropperful in water on an empty stomach 2-3 times a day) or it can be massaged topically into the skin along the spine. Mullein root helps to increase the synovial fluid in joints which provides some extra cushion in the joints.

Baths

Warm baths with either Epsom salt (1 cup) or baking soda/citric acid (1/4 cup baking soda and 1/8 cup citric acid) can bring pain relieve and even help to begin the healing process. Epsom salt provides magnesium and the baking soda/citric acid bath helps to oxygenate the body as it absorbs the CO2 bubbles. Ozone therapy, typically by injection, has been found to reduce pain from degenerative disc disease.1 The oxygenating bath may be an easy home solution if ozone therapy is not an option.

Dietary Changes to Reverse Degenerative Disc Disease

Your body needs good nutrition to work well. If you put bad gasoline in your car, it will not run well. It may not run at all. If you do not give your body what it needs to do its work, it will not work well for you.

1. Eat a Variety of Whole Foods

Include more fruits and vegetables in your diet. Use some good fat every day (coconut oil, olive oil, butter) and limit the amount of fried foods or hydrogenated oils you use.

Use whole grains and lean meats.

Use moderation. Look at your diet – the foods you consume and the liquids you drink. Is there anything you use excessively? Coffee? Alcohol? Potato Chips? Cookies? Fast food? Any of these excesses can reduce the amount of nutritious foods and beverages that you consume for your body to use for healing.

2. Hydrate Your Body

Keep your body well hydrated. Coffee, soda, and alcoholic beverages are largely empty calories and should be used quite moderately. Instead drink herbal tea and pure water.

3. Make and Eat Bone Broth

Affluent cultures often do not make use of a simple but very nourishing staple of times past - bone broth.

This broth is wonderful for joint health and many other body systems (including your gut!) It provides an excellent and easily absorbable form a variety of nutrients which support the skeletal system including collagen, silicon, calcium, magnesium, chondroitin sulfate, proline, glucosamine and hyaluronic acid. You may notice that this list contains a number of things that are sold individually as supplements for joint health. Bone broth gives you the supplements in an easily absorbable form. Does it not make sense the bones and joints of animal bones would contain the same building blocks as human bones?

It need not be intimidating. After you have removed the meat from bones (raw or leftover from dinner), put the bones (chicken, beef, fish) into a crock pot. Cover with boiling water. Add 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. Cook on low for 24 hours. Strain out the bones. Add sea salt (about 1 teaspoon per quart) and other spices you like. Freeze the resulting broth in containers appropriate for your needs. Try to consume 1-2 cups each day. You can use this as a base for soups, a hot beverage, or instead of water when you cook rice.

Supplements

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is needed for bone health. Make an effort to get some sunshine each day. On rainy days or during the winter, consider a vitamin D supplement. But remember, more is not better with fat soluble vitamins like vitamin D.

Vitamin C

Did you know that scurvy (vitamin C deficiency) can cause joint pain? Sometimes joint disorders are actually caused by scurvy. Adding a vitamin C supplement to your diet can relieve this issue.

Hyaluronic Acid

In the past Hyaluronic acid has been injected at the site of arthritic joints to reduce pain. Medical studies and personal experience are now showing that oral doses of hyaluronic acid can also reduce pain. In one study, a 200 mg daily dose of hyaluronic acid, combined with strengthening exercises were found to significantly reduce pain in knee arthritis.2

Appropriate Exercise

Exercise will increase blood flow to the discs. Blood brings the nutrients needed for healing.  Exercise strengthens muscles in the back to allow the muscles to do more of the work of supporting the spine. This will require less work from the compromised discs. A physical therapist should be able to help you find exercises appropriate for your age, health, and current situation.

Do you have a natural remedy for degenerative disc disease? Please send us some feedback!

I have several issues with my body. I am 30 years old and have: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Type III (connective tissue disorder), Degenerative Disc Disease, Fibromyalgia, TMJ Syndrome, Early Onset Osteopenia, Arthritis, Bulging disc in my cervical spine, Costochondritis (comes and goes). Over the past week I have had a bout with restless leg syndrome and now my lower back is in horrible pain! Something that helped (a lot!! ) - Ginger root tea with a pinch of cayenne pepper and honey to taste (raw local honey.. and I was out of lemon).

While drinking tea, I took a hot bath with: left over ginger pieces from tea, a handful of dried comfrey leaves, some apple cider vinegar (with the mother), coconut oil (organic, cold pressed), oils of lavender, patchouli, frankincense, myrrh, turmeric. I also added baking soda and I was out of epsom salt, so I added regular sea salt. My tub was a mess w/ all the dried leaves, but it was worth it! It knocked the pain right out, and I hadn't been w/o a day of crying pain in over a week. I am thankful for all the tips a found here. I don't know what worked, but something did, or a combination. Thought I'd share in case anyone else is in horrible pain too. I have very minimal pain today, I can walk upright instead of bent over, and I got a consecutive 6 hours of sleep (instead of waking every 1/2 hour all night). Hope this helps someone else too. x, J

For future baths, if you pick up some cheesecloth at the grocery store, you can put your leaves in it, tie it with string and toss it in the tub. All the benefits with no mess. :)

Way back when Ted first started discussing oral hyaluronic acid (HA) on EC for degenerative disc disease, available studies of that time suggested that HA was only effective if it was injected at the joint. In more recent years, studies are now showing that oral HA can indeed be useful and effective, but at a higher dose than the injections generally deliver.

Here is a typical abstract from 2012 when most studies only used injections to good benefit:

J Med Assoc Thai. 2012 Oct;95 Suppl 10:S92-7.

Prospective randomized trial comparing the efficacy of single 6-ml injection of hylan G-F 20 and hyaluronic acid for primary knee arthritis: a preliminary study.

Khanasuk Y1, Dechmaneenin T, Tanavalee A.

Author information

Abstract

OBJECTIVE:

To compare the efficacy of single 6-ml intraarticular injection between hylan G-F 20 and hyaluronic acid (HA) for knee osteoarthritis.

MATERIAL AND METHOD:

Thirty-two patients with primary knee arthritis, who were randomly received single intraarticular injection of 6-ml hylan G-F 20 (Synvisc) or HA (Hyalgan), were prospectively evaluated for clinical outcomes at a minimum 26-week follow-up. The parameters, including visual analog scale (VAS) during walking, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis (WOMAC) index and Short-Form 36 (SF-36) questionnaires, were evaluated at pre-injection, then at 1 week, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 26 weeks, post-injection.

RESULTS:

There were 15 patients in both groups who were available for final follow-up with no statistical differences in demographic data, VAS during walking, WOMAC score and SF-36 score at pre-injection. There was no adverse event related to viscosupplementation using in is better than of both agents. At 26-week follow-up, patients in both groups had significantly improved VAS during walking (p < 0.01), WOMAC score (p < 0.01) and SF-36 (p < 0.05) with no statistical differences between groups. However the cost of hylan G-F 20 was much more expensive than that of HA (534 USD vs. 252 USD).

CONCLUSION:

A single intraarticular injection of both hylan G-F 20 and HA for primary knee arthritis had no adverse event related to 6-ml volume. At 26-week follow-up of the present preliminary study, both groups had similarly improved clinical outcomes post-injection. Further study in larger population is required. As the cost of hylan G-F 20 was 2 times higher than HA, a single 6-ml intraarticular injection of HA (Hyalgan) provided better cost-effectiveness than hylan G-F 20 (Synvisc).

This more recent abstract shows that a strong enough dose of oral HA is beneficial also:

Musculoskelet Surg. 2016 Sep 28. [Epub ahead of print]

Clinical comparison of oral administration and viscosupplementation of hyaluronic acid (HA) in early knee osteoarthritis.

Ricci M1, Micheloni GM2, Berti M1, Perusi F3, Sambugaro E1, Vecchini E1, Magnan B1.

Author information

Abstract

PURPOSE:

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive, chronic and degenerative joint disease characterized by a loss of articular cartilage. Treatment of OA is largely palliative based on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, opioids and injections of steroids. Regarding conservative treatment, intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid (HA) can play a role in early symptomatic knee OA.

MATERIALS AND METHODS:

Between August 2015 and September 2015, sixty patients (32 males and 28 females) between 40 and 70 years old were randomly allocated into two groups: Half were treated with three weekly intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid 1.6 % (group A), while the others were treated with Syalox 300 Plus® (hyaluronic acid 300 mg + Boswellia serrata extract 100 mg) 1 tab/die for 20 days and afterward Syalox 150® (hyaluronic acid 150 mg) 1 tab/die for other 20 days (group B). All patients were evaluated clinically with American Knee Society Score (AKSS) and visual analogue scale (VAS) for the pain before the treatment and after 3 months.

RESULTS:

AKSS of the patients in both groups was significantly increased by the treatment, and VAS score was significantly reduced. In both groups, two subgroups were created with patients older than 60 years and patients younger than 60 years. Better results are reported in younger patients of group A and older subjects in group B.

CONCLUSIONS:

Despite several limitations, the results of the study have shown that HA injection and oral administration may have beneficial therapeutic effects on patients with early osteoarthritis. Different outcomes in younger and older subject suggested a combined therapy first with local infiltrations and then with oral composition.

----------

So the take away from this is that, Ted was ahead of his time and was spot on regarding oral HA and that it works! Thank you, Ted!!!

I've read several posts about Ted's cure on EC about this and I've noticed a lot of confusion about weights and measures.

I tried it with the salt but it was too salty, so on my next batch just used HA and water:

  • 500ml of cold water
  • 1/8th tsp Hyaluronic acid
  • Don't fret too much about the exact measurement, I know my 1/8th tsp was probably sometimes nearer a 1/4!
  • Put your cold water in a jug, don't just tip all of the HA in at once otherwise you'll end up with a blob of jelly lurking at the bottom of your jug!
  • If you can, sprinkle the HA with one hand and at the same time stir with the other hand. You'll still get some blobs, just try and break them up on the side of the jug.
  • After a good stir, pour into a bottle and put the cap on tight, give the bottle a really, really good shake, then put into the fridge.
  • Give another good shake after an hour or so, then leave overnight, all your blobs should have dissolved and your mixture will be ready to use.

The amount I take each day is: 2 fluid ounces/4 tablespoons in the morning and the same again at night. One 500ml batch lasts me four days.

For the first two weeks I used High Molecular Weight HA and had some success but then two weeks ago I changed to Low Molecular Weight HA and I've found this to work much better.

Both lots of HA were bought from ebay uk. I will say which companies in a further post if it's allowed.

I've had chronic Degenerative Disc Disease and three herniated discs for twelve years and have been in pain every day, just getting out of bed hurt, I couldn't even lean forward to get my socks on! Sneezing would have me dropping to the floor in pain, it was even painful to sneeze sitting down!

I'm sure anyone with this knows what I'm talking about!

Anyway, after two weeks on the LMWHA, In the mornings when I'm usually at my most painful and stiff, I'm just swinging my legs out of bed and standing straight up without all the pain and grunting and groaning. My pelvis and hips feel freer when I walk, instead of feeling all tight and tense. I have a bit of a swing again!

This is just after one month, I'm really hoping the effects with be cumulative and that I continue to improve even more.

Oh, just before I wrote this post I had a sneezing fit, it didn't hurt once!

This hasn't been a complete cure, after all, it's only been a month. I still have a some pain and stiffness but I feel so much better than I have done for the last twelve years!

Hi Maria,

I just read your post and it interested me, as a very good friend of mine suffers from the same problem of herniated disc but also drying out of his lumbar discs. He suffers mostly at night, waking up in pain, hard to turn over and getting up in the morning. He stays stiff for an hour usually, and does not loosen up until he has had his 2 to 3 km walk. Daytime not quite so painful until evenings or sitting for long time. Sciatic nerve is compressed.

Does that sound familiar? I would dearly like to know if you are getting improving results from your treatment regime and if you have changed it in any way. Hoping to hear good news from you. Thank you. Michael

RE: Degenerative Disc Disease, I have different take on this. If linus pauling was correct, that "all chronic illnesses can be traced back to mineral deficiency", Then I'd reco cell salts/minerals, to anyone for almost anything, seriously. I'm not saying there are no other options, just that I believe, the root cause is lack of minerals. I see it, but I'm not in a position to prove it, and perhaps that may be for the best, otherwise it would be a huge shock to medicine. Anyways, not sure if a complete recovery can happen after so much damage occurs from lack of minerals. The only way to check it is to take the cell salts, and Bioplasma is a daily dose of 12 needed cell salts, so, if injured, take extra, up to 1 dose, 8x a day to build up reserves. I've been taking 2-4x the daily dose for over a year, I feel great except for this extra weight from the candida.

Also, Queen Victoria, Elizabeth, the Queen mother, and John D rockefeller lived into their 90's with only a homeopathic physician....there has to be something to it.

Hi Michael,

Yes, very familiar! The pain and stiffness when trying to get out of bed and after sitting down for some time, it does take an hour or two to loosen up, although it never goes away. After the initial excitement of the HA working for me, it seemed to plateau very quickly and not get much better after that first month. I stopped taking it for a week to see what would happen and I could tell the difference, it's better for me to take it than not! A couple of months ago I bought some magnesium flakes so I can make some magnesium oil, I'm going to add this to my quest to relieve my pain! I've had DDD for about 12 years so maybe it's just been a bit too long to expect a full recovery. Good luck to your friend.

I gave Ted's formula, listed below, to a friend who was bed ridden due to back degenerative discs, using hyaluronic acid, liquid. After using 3 days he was in TOTAL RELIEF. Went three weeks before using again. Took two days of formula to get relief.......this time for two months. Now he uses it every 3 months for TOTAL RELIEF.

Formula:

  • 16 oz. of natural (pure water like distilled water); must be cold, refrigerated.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Hyaluronic acid, liquid, in 16 oz container of cold "natural" water.
  • Next add 1 1/2 teaspoon full of Mediterranean Sea Salt into the 16 oz. bottle of water also.
  • Shake it well.

Drink it (3) times a day.........meaning 1/3 of the bottle, then another 1/3, then the last 1/3 (bottle will be empty then).

I read a lot of comments by people that really miss the mark. Read what I have said carefully and hope you will have similiar results.........do it exactly as I have written it. It worked for my friend.

Remember NATURAL WATER LIKE DISTILLED, AND A HIGH QUALITY OF SEA SALT LIKE MEDITERRANEAN SEA SALT.

I use this salt daily 1 1/2 teaspoons on food. My blood pressure is 100/62 and I am 73 years of age. This salt is NOT refined, meaning it has 80 plus trace minerals that are GOOD FOR your body. Hope this helps.

Dear Ron,

Hyaluronic acid puts the fluid back in joints and spine. I have found that Collagen is the other remedy that heals and strengthens the bone. I make our version of bulletproof coffee to alleviate pain. I have found it to be another piece of the puzzle. I take 1 cup of brewed coffee add 1/2 tsp mct oil 1/2 tsp grassfed butter 1 full scoop about 2 tbsp of collagen 1 and 3 blend 15 seconds pour into cup and drink. You can add magnesium oil 6 drops and your liquid HA to this also. Pain is pretty much gone and quickly. This also improves digestion somewhat.

Ted recommends 4 hourly doses of the lysine remedy to kill any virus that lurks on nerve paths and spine so I use it too. In a 1 liter bottle I add spring water 1/2 tsp lysine 1/2 tsp sodium ascorbate [vit c reacted with baking soda] 6 to 8 drops methylene blue and 1/4 tsp l threonine. but I multiply the doses to make 4 total doses I mark my bottle with 4 tape lines and take 1 an hour in the am. I do this for three days. I drink my coffee 2 x a day. No back or neck problems any longer.

Barb, I use that 4 hourly doses of lysine remedy for a minimum of 3 days, I add 2 afternoon doses if we get those sudden onset awful colds. Ted often says that 3 days is your time to know if something is working. I take it as needed so I do not have a schedule in weekly or monthly time frame. It is my go to first response to any of us getting sick or under the weather. I do keep a bottle of vitamin c sodium ascorbate with lysine and methylene blue made up in a 1 liter bottle on my kitchen sink for daily dosing for our family of six. I make it with 10 to 12 doses as we all take it 2 x a day 5 days out of seven as a supplement 1/2 tsp of sodium ascorbate is 2 grams of vitamin c 275 mg of baking soda reacted to make sodium ascorbate which is more absorbable than ascorbic acid itself. lysine in powder form at 1/2 tsp is 1.2 grams of l lysine. so a 10 dose bottle is 5 tsp of each. I add methylene blue which you can read about here http://ted.earthclinic.com/remedies/methylene-blue.html as a great help we buy it at an aquarium shop or online I add 10 to 15 drops to this, for general supplementation. I then mark the bottle and add a dose to a glass add 1/2 glass of water and drink. janet

This isn't really a treatment for back arthritis as much as it is for degenerative disc disease, so it's hard to speak for the effectiveness of this treatment for your back arthritis.

Hi Guys

It was just a question regarding the article I've copied in below. It's for treatment for Degenerative Disc Disease.

My Mother has been suffering with this for some time. I'm trying to get her to take the mixture of Hyaluronic Acid and 9 grams of sea salt but she's worried that taking so much salt is dangerous. Also she was worried about the Hyaluronic acid.

I just want to put her mind at rest really, would you be able to confirm that these levels of sea salt and Hyaluronic acid are safe to take over a period of time? Thanks

Joel

Degenerative Disc Disease Treatment

"While degenerative disc disease is a common part of aging, certain measures can be taken to prevent degeneration and reverse the current levels of degeneration. One effective natural degenerative disc disease treatment includes 500 mg of Hyaluronic acid powder, 9 grams of sea salt, and 500 cc of water emulsified and taken daily. This mixture works to restore the cartilage in the discs. Additional options include vitamin C, magnesium, and calcium – all which support bone and joint health. A healthy lifestyle complete with regular exercise and light weight bearing exercise helps maintain bone and muscle health and serves as a supplement to degenerative disc disease treatment."

Joel:

The copy and paste portion of your post does not state who wrote it. If I were you, I would not follow it. 500 mg of hyaluron acid, per dose, or even per day, is way too much.

There is absolutely no reason to preserve it with all that salt...... just cold water. make it one day in advance. I believe that the dose is about 10 mg of H.A., dissolved in water, X twice per day. Store the H.A. water mixture in the refigerator, for up to 3 days.

There is no reason to give her all that sea salt, and eat all of that chloride, and all that sodium; just to get some trace minerals.. Just buy a ionic minerals supplement. Giving the trace minerals in ionic form.

Have her make herself some bone and cartilage broth by boiling down her collect meat scraps in a large pot. simmer for 3 days, or continuously, every day, on very low heat. Then can the broth in jars, or refrigerate. see the sally fallon books and websites. for details. That will give her cartilage and bone calcium as food. perhaps also hyaluron.... if it is not killed by heat.

Be carefull with giving her molybdenum supplements. I took those, 500mg each, for only 7 to 10 days, and they caused a copper deficiency in the spine cartilage, which gave me a sudden case of degegenerative disk disease. a bad case. I stopped the molyB and added extra copper as supplement pills. also took hyaluron powder dissolved in water for 4 hrs minimum. Seems like it was about 10 mg H.A. powder X twice per day. I recovered in about 4 or 5 weeks. I could not have tolerated 500 mg per day of H.A. I don't think anyone could either, and there is no need to.

QUESTION: did your mammy take the FOSAMAX, or Bisphosphonate class of osteoporosis drugs ???? If so, that is what happened to her spine. Get her off of them immediately and supply her bone nutrients to try and repair the damage done by the perscription drugs.

I just want to say thank you SO so much to Ted for posting this remedy and to Lisa from Lafeyette for sharing her story and giving additional instructions regarding the remedy.

I have been suffering from back pain since I was 17 yrs. Old. I'm 29 now. I've always had my back "go out" on me and be laid up in bed for a few weeks and then be able to start hobbling around again. Living in constant pain or fear of pain is a horrible exsistance though. This past Sept. (2011) my back finally gave up on me. I lost the use of both legs and was in the most excruicating pain of my entire life. I was unable to care for my 2yr. Old and was on horrible prescription drugs for months. I was constantly in a fog of pain and exhaustion (brought on by the drugs). I tried physical therapy and that helped but I had to stay on the meds.

I had an MRI done and my doctor told me I have severe degeneration in my discs, spinal arthritis all along my spine, and my L4 & L5 are bulging. The rest of my lumbar discs are also trying to bulge and have little to no fluid left to cushion them. I was so devastated.

After several months of trying to do things the "medical" way I decided to search for a natural remedy on my own. I can't tell you how elated I am that I found this site and the recipe for Ted's hyaluronic acid. I decided to give it a try.

I have been using this remedy now for maybe 2 1/2 weeks and I am almost 100% pain free. I went off my meds on day two so I could feel how much the hyaluronic was working, except that it relieved almost all of my pain after only 3 doses!!! It's so incredible to feel this pain free. My entire body feels so much better. I started taking a vegetarian glucosamine and MSM supplement as well after about a week and a half and I've only seen improvement. I am still taking the hyaluronic 3 times a day because my spine has been under so much stress for so many years and I just feel better when I take it 3 times.

There is so much more that I want to say and share about where this site and this remedy has led me; how I can feel so much about my body that I never knew I was missing. I feel incredible now that I'm giving myself what I need to not just survive but thrive! I don't want to make this post too long that no one will read it though. :P

Overall I just can't thank you enough Ted, Earth Clinc and this community. The combination of hyaluronic acid and physical therapy is helping me to live life again, pain free. I've started to lose weight as well now that my body isn't so clouded with prescription medications. I know that will only help my spine to heal as well. Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart thank you!

My husband has bulging & herniated discs. Affected discs( L-2,4,6,7 & C-1,2,4) Due to auto accident about 10 years ago.I believe he has also been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease as well. The DDD must have been inherited as several men in his family have been diagnosed with the same disease.

10 years ago he had a prescription for loritab 10mg. 3 a day. 9 years ago increased to 4 a day. 7 years ago changed to percasett 10 mg.

Several increases over the years. He is currently taking 30 mg opana(oxymorophone) 2 a day.

15 mg oxycodone 2 a day.
500 mg naproxen 2 a day
10 mg valium 1 at night
And finally tizanidine( zanaflex)
4 mgs 3 days
He is not the man I married.
He does not believe that there is anything in this Natural world that can help him with pain relief but then again that could be the drug talking.
Please help.
I need advise and and try experience in order to get him to see that in addition to surgery there is another way.

Thanks, Amber

Amber. Our experience with bulging discs was horrible.

Ken could not work we went to several specialists.

Here is how we cured it.

First 1/2 tsp of baking soda reacted with apple cider vinegar add 1/2 glass of water and drink 1/2 hour after meals 2x a day 5 days out of seven. You can substitute 1 whole squeezed lime for acv. But Apple Cider Vinegar really helps pain but we alternate both. This improves digestion and circulation which his meds have most likely disrupted.

Hyaluronic acid we by in powder (expensive) or capsules from vitaminsbecause online. The are easiest to use and reliably clean and affordable.

10 capsules in a blender we use oster..8 to 10 oz of spring water 1/4 tsp of sea salt. Blend 10 or 15 seconds oster fits mason or ball jars then you just cap and store in frig. Apply to spine. It spoils after about a week and then remake. You can take 2 tbsp in water or Take 3 caps 3 or 4 x a day. This hydrates the spine and improves bone health

Remove all fluoride from his life.

Easiest way for men 1/4 tsp 1/8 tsp women of 20 mule team borax in 1 liter of water. To be used through the day in drinks like tea etc. I use mine in coffee making as it tastes icky unless ice cold. Adding lemon to water is another. 4 days out of 7. Displacing fluoride in bones is critical to healing. Many pain meds and antibiotics have fluoride in them so most likely he has much in his system.

Remove chlorine from environment and drinking water. In tub use fish tank dechlorinator. I buy sea chem 1 cap for 50 gallons. I buy sodium thiosulfate crystals from photographers supply on amazon or ebay if he showers. He takes one before showering. It also improves sleep. It also helps with overall pain management. 1 crystal a day removes chlorine.

If he can soak in tub is best but this can also be used with towels soaked and placed on back. 1/2 the tub recipe in bucket. 20minutes soak or application. Recipe...2 cups epsom salts for magnesium through skin 1 cup borax to displace more fluoride and add non acidic boron through skin 1 cap fish tank dechlorinator 1 cup hydrogen peroxide to oxygenate blood which improve healing.

Topical treatment. Buy magnesium flakes for spas sold at some health food stores or online. Put 60 % flakes in clean jar add 40 % mineral water. Let sit an hour shake you now have mag oil. Apply to spine this will sting some people so I put castor oil on first and then mag oil. The reason it stings is body is so low on mag this goes away after levels are up. Buy dmso online or farm co op. Back must be clean before starting this as dmso carries everything in. Add this to spine this will drive the mag oil through skin directly to spine. Some people smell of garlic after using dmso. Then this becomes an evening remedy. But we have not had a problem as everyone is different.

Tumeric drinks or pills help pain.

Supplements

5 drops of mag oil in water 2x a day. This is relieving to many on pain meds as it helps constipation. But if he is a more runny stool person then magnesium malate which provides more malic acid to further pain relief.

Sodium ascorbate powder online or vitamin shoppe is vitamin c reacted with baking soda for optimal absorption. I add 1/2 tsp to each Apple Cider Vinegar or lime drink.

These things will get pain under control. To then deal with getting off meds etc.

Ken was in crazy pain and his meds hardly helped. But he had to have something. Within 3 days he was able to slowly wean off them. His whole health picture changed. Everyone is different.

The thing that really helped that and overall health was niacinamide. This is a godsend to relieve every aspect of health Ken took 1000mg. Several x a day through this as it helps digestion circulation depression anger impatience infection weaning off meds it only lasts in body 24 hours is a water soluable vitamin.

B comlex the only one on the market that has all the optimal and correct bs is swansons high dose activated b. 3x a week. Second choice is b-right. But I invest in the swansons for its overall health impact. It is energy and healing.

Selenium yeast 200mcg a day

Vitamin d3 in coconut oil from Solaray. 10,000 iu a day.

K2 from natto 200mg a day. This helps calcium go into the bone where it belongs and out of circulation.

Ideally I listed the things in order of importance. But we were not this organized to start. But you do what you can. With what you have to further his health and pain management.

Ken now works 12 hours a day 7 days a week as an industrial electrician climbing in and out of robots. Up and down ladders. He is healthy and pain free. We keep up with it to keep him in good working order. Ken is 60 years old.

Here is Ted from bangkoks chapter on spine pain. https://ted.earthclinic.com/cures/back-pain-relief2.html

He has further information and the whys and hows. I would also look at his spinal virus chapter as we used this also.

Please try Hyaluronic acid Ted's formula.

If not that, then try just the Hyaluronic Acid capsules, 100 mg three times a day taken away from food. It is more convenient to take and has helped many earthclinic users.

I tried Ted's hyaluronic acid and sea salt remedy for degenerative disc disease and it was very helpful and reasonably priced, however I got tired of mixing it regularly and switched to a hyaluronic acid supplement that contains the following:

Serving Size: 1 vcap
Servings per Container: 120
Sodium (from Sodium Hyaluronate) 10mg
Hyaluronic Acid (from Sodium Hyaluronate) - 100mg
L-Proline - 100mg
Alpha Lipoic Acid -50mg
Grape Seed Extract (Vitis vinifera) (Standardized to min. 90% Total Polyphenols) - 25mg

I started out at three of these per day and have reduced to two per day with results that seem to be as good as, or possibly better than Ted's remedy mix. It is hard to say for certain if it is better than Ted's remedy because, had I stayed on Ted's remedy, I may have continued to improve also.

In any case, I am glad I tried Ted's remedy because it convinced me that HA works. I was already taking a supplement with HA in it, but it was too small of a dose to be of much use. The sea salt in Ted's remedy is also beneficial for other areas of health.

*****Please Help! *******

From reading the testimonial here this does indeed seem to an almost miraculous cure for a condition that causes untold misery to millions of people worldwide. My wife has been diagnosed with this terrible condition and is terrible pain. She wants to give this a try. The only place we can get the poweder is in sachet form in health stores here in Ireland. see link--> http://www.hollandandbarrett.ie/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=3523&prodid=3994&cid=250

The product contains 30 sachets X 5ml ???

My question is multi loaded so please bear with me:)

* Is the powder in that link ok?

* What measurement is 500mg of powder..Isn't that half a gram.? That seems very small to put into so much water.

If anyone could clear this up for me, it would be greatly appreciated. I want to get this right first time .

Chris, apologies for delay in replying, we've still got telecommunication issues after the storms so I couldn't reply to you before now. You may have bought the product by now and realize that Syno-vital is actually liquid inside the sachet not powder (unless they've changed it since I took it about 2 years ago). It is the only one available in this country unless you buy via the internet. I can't vouch for its efficiency regarding the bones as it turned out that I needed an operation to cure me of my awful pain. I can tell you that my skin and general well being felt improved enough on 1 sachet per day (as was recommended) for me to take it till I had finished the box). Many days I took a second sachet because I had read that you will naturally eliminate any excess that is not required by the body.

One of my bugbears about this country is that often the diagnoses are clinical rather than investigated via xray and blood tests. In my own case I was left in agony with the diagnosis of Muscle Spasm until I demanded an MRI. Once that had been read by the consultant he wanted to operate immediately even though it was only 2 days to xmas because I was at risk of being paralyzed from structural bone damage. My GP apologised afterwards and explained that they are under instructions from private and public sectors to treat a bad back as just that and not to investigate. Investigation costs whereas painkillers are purchased by the patient themselves. So please (I may be preaching to the converted and if so, I apologise) fight with your doctors until you are fully satisfied with all your efforts that you are on the right road.

Good luck and best wishes to your wife. She is lucky to have you.

Thanks Tricia for your reply,

I realized when we got the sachets that they were in liquid form. I found a great site online, Nukraft, that operates a shop through eBay. I ordered 5 gms of pure hyaulronic acid powder that cost €20 including postage. They sell everything at a fraction of the cost of Holland & Barrett. Sorry to read about your back and hope that you are OK. Thankfully my wife got an x-ray on the recommendation of her doctor and she received the news that several of her lumbar discs are thinning. She is on a course of pain killers and anti inflammatorys. She is feeling the inflammation more but if she sits upright for too long then the pain kicks in. Walking even short distances distances is difficult for her as well. I am still going to give this recipe a try, now that we will be getting the proper powder and see what happens. In the meantime, she has booked an appointment with some guy in Kinnegad called Alan Kane who is supposed to be out of this world. So much so that he gets clients coming over from Britain to book appointments with him. I agree with you about the health service here, it is all geared towards money over the health of the individual. I was thinking my wife might need to get a scan if this doesn't clear up. When you say 'structural bone damage' was that due to wear and tear or as a result of an injury. Is it the same as degenerative disc disease?

Sorry for all those questions, all the best,

Chris.

I don't know if EC will allow me to post name brands or places to purchase so the information may or may not appear in this reply. If it is missing search for these ingredients:

Supplement Facts
Serving Size: 1 Veg Capsule
Amount Per Serving % Daily Value
Sodium (from Sodium Hyaluronate) 10 mg <1%
Hyaluronic Acid (from Sodium Hyaluronate) 100 mg
L-Proline 100 mg
Alpha Lipoic Acid 50 mg
Grape Seed Extract (Vitis vinifera) (Standardized to min. 90% Total Polyphenols) 25 mg
† Daily Value not established.

I used this:

Now Foods Hyaluronic Acid 2X Plus Veg Capsules, 100 mg, 120 Count

Amazon currently has the best price that I was able to find, but I find that pricing varies from time to time as other common suppliers have had better pricing at other times.

Johnny from Virginia,

Ted's mix worked very well also, but the capsules were very convenient when away from home. This link is to Amazon, but any major online supplement supplier should have this product, but Amazon currently has the lowest price I was able to find right now, but this changes regularly so it is useful to check around before ordering:

https://www.amazon.com/Foods-Hyaluronic-Acid-Capsules-Count/dp/B014FF6U0O/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1471211499&sr=8-4&keywords=hyaluronic+acid+now+2x

Note that this is their double strength version as this brand has several other versions of HA.

I am not sure if the other ingredients are important or not because their amounts seem useless based on studies using them individually, but perhaps there is a synergy with the combination, but the amounts still seem to low to be of value.

I had to take three capsules per day, one with each meal. That's a total of 300mg of HA per day. Any less was not effective for me. Some manufacturers advertise a 100mg per dose, but it takes 2 capsules to equal a dose, so it is helpful to read labels to make sure. There are 100mg of HA in each of these caps. Less than 300mg per day were not effective for me. I was able to tell a difference while using the first bottle. Had there been no improvement while taking the first bottle, I would probably not have continued to use it and just stuck with Ted's mix.

As time has passed I would say that the HA added to the effect of the Borax I take and eventually I was able to discontinue the HA and only use the Borax now with very good effects.

If you decide to try this, always check with and get approval from your doctor to be sure it is okay for you to use it and that it is compatible with any medications you are currently taking.

A million thank yous Ted for the Degenerative Disc remedy recipe with Hyaluronic acid, sea salt and water. Today was the first day in about a month that I was able to sneeze and not feel pain in my lower back. I became determined to find something that could help me overcome extreme pain in my lower back and referred pain in my left thigh that would often throb, after I had a bit of a breakdown when I came to grips that my few options included pain killers for the rest of my life, back surgery and/or the possibility of walking with a cane. I recently turned 31 and I was devastated.

Before I tried your remedy, I could not walk at full stride - I could only walk slowly and every step was painfull. I couldn't sit for a lengthy period of time before my back would begin to hurt. I could not stand for a long time without my left leg feeling like it was about to become disjointed at my waist. Reaching was impossible. I could not manage a full night's sleep and most nights I had to sleep on the floor because my bed, although quite firm, couldn't support my condition well.

I found your recipe and made my first batch August 25th. Within the first few days, I could feel that the pain was slightly less, only barely noticeable. As the days passed, I could feel that the pain was still slightly decreasing. Because I had lived with the pain for some time, I didn't know what kind of benchmark I could use to really give a green light that it was working. Today is the seventh day that I've been taking the remedy - mind you, although I'd prefer to take it as recommended, I have not been able to take it 3 times a day and a few days, I only took it once. Instead of having to brace myself for the pain I knew I would feel, I was able to sneeze without discomfort today. I am highly encouraged by my results and look forward to a full recovery. To think, a week ago, I was in tears because I was looking at a grim future. Now, I'm looking forward to being able to exercise and stretch again. I can already walk with a full stride and I can reach without straining too much. I still feel some pain when I've stressed my back or leg too far but I know it will soon subside for good. Thank you very much for sharing this remedy. I can't begin to tell you how much it means to me.

Dano, it depends on which brand you are using, and if it is just HA, or has something like msm mixed into it, which would make your measurement different than if just HA. Purebulk, the brand I use, is, I believe, 3.56 grams (3560 mg) per 2 teaspoons. So, I break that down into approx. 1/7 of that dose, or 1/3 teaspoon. It's a little more (593 mg. ), but it doesn't make any difference, it's close enough. Be VERY sure you dissolve it in fridge temp. Water, NOT room temp water.

Hello!

I would first like to express my joy in having come across your site! It has been working miracles on many of my ailments. I'm 25, recently diagnosed with phase 1 degenerative disc disease. I found out about Ted's mixture of hyaluronic acid and sea salt and immediately got on it. I've been taking it for 3 days and the pain in my spine has substantially subsidized. I read that it takes 2 weeks to fully restore the disk cartilage.

My question is upon the full restoration of my discs would I have to stay on a maintenance dose of hyaluronic acid? If so do I have to take it forever? Considering that I'm 25, I do not smoke and I'm far from obese I wouldn't think that I would need to take it forever, I just want to be sure that I'm able to restore the slight loss of fluids that was currently lost from my discs which is causing immense pain. Thank you for your time and contributions!

Most of us have a magnesium deficiency. Please read Dr. Sircus about transdermal magnesium. I have found it very helpful for arthritis. I do not think you should apply it on the wound. But elsewhere would be good. It will absorb and help heal. The product is called magnesium oil. It is not actually an "oil" but does share some characteristics of an oil. It absorbs in a few minutes. Like most all supplements, patience helps as defiencies are not corrected overnight.

Magnesium oil is a must but not enough for degenerative disc disease. You also need vitamin d, and bioavailable calcium through food like almonds, sesame seeds, dark greens, organic whey protein from 100% concentrate.

You need boron also. Spray a borax solution mixed with water on the degenerated area. (half a tea spoon with half a liter of water sprayed on the area twice a day)

you need to eat food high in phosphorous.

you need to massgae a mixture of clove oil 10% and castor oil 30% and extra virgin coconut oil 60%. This works like a charm, but needs time in such situations. You also need to elliminate foods like wheat sugar fried food and junk food and grains, to stop fueling the underlying undiagnosed hidden body condition or major multiple malnutritions, that are causing your disc to degenerate. This is most vital to success and better than treating the symproms on site, to ensure future body harmony.

you can email me for questions.

Hi Ted, This site is wonderful, as are the folks who participate. Thank you so much!

You said the treatment for Degenerative Disc Disease is as follows:

"500 mg of Hyaluronic acid powder (sodium hyaluronate) plus 9 grams of sea salt in 500 cc of water. Store in refrigerator when not in used. " I'm confused on a few things and thanks ahead of time.

Here are my questions:

1. How much HA do I order from the purebulk website? Is 500 mg of Hyaluronic acid enough to last the entire two weeks, longer perhaps?

2. For bone AND cartilage restoration, what would the amount of time be for restoration? Maintenance?

3. Do I continue this indefinitely and then go on a maintenance dosage?

Thanks for all the feedback.
